+ many more TBC

TUSK Music, the live music producers, are delighted to announce that the second TUSK Festival will take place in Newcastle upon Tyne over the weekend of October 5-7.

A handpicked crop of exciting cross-spectrum international acts will once again descend upon the city, this time zoning in on the Star & Shadow, the city's best-loved underground music venue and cinema, for three days of groundbreaking music, engaging discussion and late night hotel lobby hi-jinks... all making for a genuinely warm and unique urban festival environment.

The announced line-up so far includes: Japanese avant garde godfather Keiji Haino; classic Virginian drone disciples Pelt; Chicago's lo-fi tech voyager Hieroglyophic Being; and The Dead C's Michael Morley as his beat and loop-driven alter ego, Gate, with many more still to add. More details on the artists below.

TUSK Festival will again also include panel discussions, plus workshops, installations and a film programme curated by members of local bands Jazzfinger and Posset, plus a mountain of rare merch and networking opportunities that make this weekend unmissable for anyone involved in adventurous music forms as an artist, producer, label, promoter or vinyl addict.

TUSK 2011, which featured Rhys Chatham, Alvarius B, Grouper and Hype Williams among others, was widely praised by punters and press alike for its line-up, locations and atmosphere, and 2012's festival promises to exceed even that.

A limited number of Early Bird weekend passes are on sale for the bargain price of £25 – ticket link here: wegottickets.com

Shortly afterwards, weekend and day tickets will go on sale – and with more news of the stellar line-up to follow soon, we expect tickets to sell fast; this is a small festival with a massive line-up, so don't miss out!

PRESS QUOTES ON TUSK 2011:

"A new event that gathers together highly regarded and deeply alternative talent well outside the industry epicentre" – The Guardian

"Successfully marshalled everything from unadorned folksong to Chris Corsano's percussive maelstrom ... launching in a year when several more established festivals faltered, TUSK nevertheless drew healthy crowds" – The Wire

"A great example of how championing an adventurous mix of music can work. It felt homely ... as most of the artists stuck around all weekend, there was a feeling of being part of a rather unique but joyful group" – The Liminal
